Default quick simple question

Ok I have a question for when it comes to what a build list means when it has a +number after the initial number.

death=12+1+3 soul=10+1 heal=8

So for this I would have 12 in death and guessing +1 from the head and another +3 from a rune. The same goes for soul, 10 unmodified and +1 from a rune. Just checking that I do have this right.

When your using runes esp the +2 and +3 ones you tend to lose a lot of health which isn't usually a good idea.
You can make the health back up with other items but keep it in mind anyway.

Skills usually get better the more points you put into them but sometimes there is a step where you ad a couple of points and you get nothing then another point gives you the boost.

Sometimes 12 +1 +1 has the same power that 12 +1 +3 does
All depends on the skill your looking at.

I guess one more note is in order since I'm guessing you're new to this:

Generally put the +X rune on the matching +1 headgear. That way you can change builds and hats at the same time and end up with proper runeage for most builds automatically.

If you are running curses/blood, I'd suggest a superior rune on your headgear with a second headgear that has a minor. That way you get the best of both worlds: higher HP when you have DP (minor) and less sacrifice cost and more damage when you don't have DP. This is especially important if you run Enfeebling blood/ Order of Pain.

For death magic, go superior.
